Hakone is a popular destination because it is close to Tokyo and famous for hot springs. Hotel Okada is a ryokan, Japanese style inn, with the main attraction being a public hot spring and foot bath. I can’t remember why we didn’t visit it (maybe because it is an open bath and it rained the entire weekend), but we did use the private one inside the room.
Ryokan also provide other Japanese experiences; tatami floors, traditional clothing, and local meals.

The next post will focus on a multi-course dinner called kaiseki!
